This series of work draws its inspiration from the Mexican holiday, El Dia de Los Muertos. While traveling in Oaxaca, Mexico I was able to observe the many rituals and celebrations that took place throughout the region. My inspiration came from the abundance of colors, patterns, and images associated with this celebration. I then created many monotypes and carved stamped images that were worked together into the final collages.

This series of work is about hidden places and the passage of time, communicated through layers of paint. I continued the layering of geometric and organic shapes, along with saturated color, to create a sense of space and movement. The addition of lines and marks added the final layer to this tangled space series.
